5 Days Aberdares, Lake. Nakuru, Masai Mara budget camping safari

Description

This safari takes you through three very different game viewing experiences: Aberdares, Lake Nakuru and Maasai Mara. In the Aberdares you find icy rivers, spectacular waterfalls and rain forests. Here elephants, buffalos and other animals visit you at the floodlit waterholes of The Ark. Lake Nakuru’s claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo’s and the over 400 species of birds found here. This soda lake on Lone Rhino in the Mara the floor of the Rift Valley is host to millions of flamingos and an important refuge for endangered species- particularly Rothschild Giraffe and black and white rhino.

You then head to Maasai Mara, Kenya’s most famous and finest game sanctuary. The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see the Big Five- lion, rhino, buffalo, leopard, and elephant. The famous Maasai tribesmen live within the dispersal area of the game reserve.

Leopard, elephant, serval, waterbuck, reedbuck, dikdik, rhino and the rare bongo can all be found here. You are sure to see elephants, buffalos and some other animals at the floodlit waterholes of The Ark. Birdlife is also plentiful, including the monkey eating crowned eagle. Lake Nakuru’ s claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo’s and the over 400 species of birds found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley. The sight of the at times millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here. Dinner and overnight at Campsite.

Day 3: LAKE NAKURU – MASAI MARA

0800 hrs- Drive to masai mara via the Great Riftt Valley to arrive at Maasai Mara in time for lunch at campsite / lodge. At 1530 hrs- go for an afternoon game drive till dusk.

You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures. Dinner and overnight at the Campsite.

Day 4: MASAI MARA

Full day game viewing coupled with exploring this spectacular Park. Picnic lunch will be served.

The Mara is the land of African legend: Lion are abundant throughout the park, as are the elephants, giraffes, and a variety of gazelle species and zebra. Cheetah and leopard are also regularly seen and, less commonly, rhino. The annual wildebeest migration, one of nature’s few remaining wildlife spectacles, occurs in the Mara from July to September where the big animals and their predators are to be present in abundance during the time frame of this trip.

Several species of Bee-Eater, the flying rainbow that heads the list of the Mara’s birds, occur in the reserve. As well as wildlife, the Maasai Mara is also home to many members of the colorful Maasai tribe who may be seen around the borders of the park – Morans (warriors) loping across the plains, young boys herding goats, or elders grouped under a tree discussing matters of the day. A visit to a Maasai boma (homestead) reveals this outstanding culture and customs. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.
